On Tuesday evening, Nashville's music community packed The Sutler Saloon, one of Nashville's many legendary live music venues, to celebrate Blake Shelton, Bryan Simpson and Ashley Gorley for their 3-week #1 smash "A Guy With A Girl."  This was the fourth single off Shelton's 10th studio album If I'm Honest and marks his 23rd career #1 song.  Written by Bryan Simpson and Ashley Gorley, "A Guy With A Girl" was a solid chart performer and has become a true Blake Shelton classic.

“Thank you guys for a great song,” Shelton told the songwriters. “And go write me another one, for God’s sake. Quit sitting around.”

Shelton also commented on how the song has inspired some unique merchandise that takes its cue from both “A Guy With A Girl” and Gwen Stefani’s early career days with No Doubt, when they hit big with a song called “Just A Girl.”

“Gwen [Stefani] actually came out onstage and performed with me last weekend,” Shelton said. “And somebody threw . . . there’s a picture of this somewhere . . . somebody threw a t-shirt up on the stage that said, ‘She’s just a girl with a guy’ and it had a picture of me on it! So you know that a song is getting big whenever they start making their own merch up.”

In early 2016, Spirit acquired Frank Rogers' one-third interest in certain copyrights of the respected Nashville indie publisher Sea Gayle Music, which Rogers co-founded with Chris DuBois and Brad Paisley in 1999.  "A Guy With A Girl" is but one of the many fine copyrights that Spirit has added to it's vast catalog through the aquisition.
